Bokura Ga Ita Manga Gets Live-Action Film & Manga Schedule

The April 2011 issue of Shogakukan's Betsucomi magazine is Bokura Ga Itaannouncing on Saturday that a live-action film adaptation of Yuuki Obata's Bokura Ga Ita romance manga has been green-lit. The story follows a girl named Nanami Takahashi as she struggles with her relationship with Motoharu Yano, her high school's most popular boy who has his own issues from his past.

The 14 volumes of the manga has sold over 10 million copies in Japan since 2002. Viz Media will publish the 12th volume in North America in May. The manga already inspired a television anime series from Artland in 2006.

Nominees Announced for 15th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize

On the 26th of February, the nominees for the 15th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize were announced in the Asahi Shimbun to promote the culture of manga within the country. 8 manga were chosen by experts and nominated by bookstores from the series that were published in 2010 and then selected by a judging panel of 8 independent individuals.

Anime adaptations have been made of nominees "Shigurui", "FMA" and "Sunred", and the movie "Fullmetal Alchemist: Nageki ni Milos no Sei naru Hoshi" will be opening in cinemas in 2011. Of note is also the fact that a number of the nominees are period pieces, namely "Shigurui", "JIN", "Oumagahashi" and "Takemitsusamurai".

Fullmetal Alchemist's Arakawa Starts New Series in April

Fullmetal Alchemist creator Hiromu Arakawa will launch a new manga seriesFMA in this year's 19th issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine on April 6. It is the fifth of the five new manga series that the magazine is starting this spring.

In the 17th issue on March 23, writer Mitsuru Kaga and artist Hirofumi Katō will debut another new manga series set in Kyoto. In the coming-of-age story, a boy is drawn into the world of sushi with a girl who happens to be a sushi chef.

In the 16th issue, Major baseball manga creator Takuya Mitsuda will launch a boxing manga on March 16.

Today our featured manga is Nurarihyon no Mago. Most of you might have heard of it. This manga recently got an anime, which came out last year.

Story: The story follows life of Nura Rikuo, who has 1/4 demon blood in him. Yes hes not a half demon like Inuyasha but a quarter. His family the Nura clan is, a clan of demons, and the one who rules over them is known as the supreme commander. His grandfather is currently the supreme commander, yet Rikuo has no intention of succeeding him. As he does not like his demon side and wants to live a natural life.
